Tata Motors has recently launched the much-awaited Altroz Racer which is priced from Rs 9.49 Lakh, going all the way up to Rs 10.99 Lakh, ex-showroom, India. This is the sportiest version of the hatchback till now and will directly compete with the Hyundai i20 N Line. Tata Altroz Racer Launched in India – HighlightsThe main highlight of the Altroz Racer is the engine which is the same 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder turbo-petrol engine that powers the iTurbo although this unit generates 120 hp and 170 Nm, meaning it’s tuned to produce 10 hp and 30 Nm more. Instead, this motor is in the same state of tune as the Nexon SUV. The Altroz Racer sports a 6-speed manual transmission, instead of the 5-speed unit that is offered with the iTurbo. However, there’s no Auto gearbox option, but it does get a sportier-sounding exhaust system. The Altroz Racer also does not feature any suspension or steering updates, unlike the i20 N Line. With the arrival of the Altroz Racer, Tata has discontinued the iTurbo variant of the hatchback. The iTurbo was powered by a detuned version of the 1.2-litre turbo-petrol unit and came with a pretty standard 5-speed manual gearbox. The Altroz Racer also gets a few exterior updates, the most noticeable being the new colour schemes – Atomic Orange, Avenue White and Pure Grey. All 3 come with a contrasting black finish with white racing stripes for the roof and bonnet along with a fully blacked-out top, giving the car a very sporty look. It also features “Racer” badging on the front fenders and a slightly revised grilled but the 16-inch alloys remain unchanged. The equipment updates are also no less either. The Racer gets a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen from the newer Tata SUVs as well as a new 7.0-inch digital driver’s display. The car also features segment-first ventilated front seats, a 360-degree camera and a voice-assisted sunroof to name a few. When it comes to safety, the Racer sports 6 airbags and ESC as standard. The cabin furthermore gets a makeover with new leatherette upholstery with contrast stitching. With a price range of Rs 9.49 Lakh – Rs 10.99 Lakh, the Altroz Racer rivals the i20 N line and also the Maruti Fronx.
