Audi has recently revealed a new variant for the upcoming Q6 e-tron prior to its official launch later this year. The new Audi Q6 e-tron Performance is the entry-level variant in the Q6 e-tron line-up which is mainly focused on efficiency and a higher driving range. ![]() Audi Q6 e-tron Performance RevealedThe Performance variant gets the same 100 kWh battery pack as the other two variants. Despite being the entry-level variant in the lineup, it boasts the highest range among its siblings of up to 641 km (WLTP) – 16 km higher than the standard Q6 e-tron and 43 km higher than the SQ6 e-tron. Furthermore, the new variant is the only one with a rear-wheel drive setup. The Q6 e-tron Performance churns out 326 hp, which is lower than the Q6 e-tron Quattro’s 387 hp and SQ6’s 517 hp. Despite that, it’s still capable of going 0 to 100 kph in 6.6 seconds. Audi states that the new variant can offer up to 260 km range by charging for just 10 minutes, considering a fast charger is used. The Q6 e-tron is set to go live in Europe in August, followed by China. The India launch is expected to take place either by the end of this yer or early next year. The price will likely be around the Rs 70-80 Lakh range and the car will sit between the Volvo XC40 recharge, BMW iX3 and larger SUVs like the Q8 e-tron, BMW iX and Mercedes EQE SUV. The much-awaited BMW R 1300 GS has recently been listed on BMW’s Indian website ahead of its launch, confirming its entry into our market. Revealed last year, this range-topping ADV debuted an all-new engine, frame and design for the flagship BMW GS model. ![]() BMW R 1300 GS Confirmed for India – HighlightsFirstly, the ADV features a horizontally-placed 1,300 cc, twin-cylinder engine with a higher combustion ratio than the ongoing 1,254 cc unit. Along with the displacement bump, the output has also increased to 145 hp at 7,750 RPM & 149 Nm of Torque at 6,500 RPM. BMW states that despite the bump up in displacement, the engine is more compact than before, all thanks to the gearbox now placed under the engine. Coming to the frame, the bike uses an all-new sheet metal mainframe that is fitted to a die-cast aluminium subframe. The engine is a load-bearing member and is suspended through a telelever front and paralever rear, typical of a BMW. ![]() The R 1300 GS weighs 237 kg, which is 12 kg lighter than the 1250, although the former holds a litre less fuel in the 19-litre fuel tank. This is also the first time BMW has added radar-assisted riding aids on a GS model apart from the usual riding modes, traction control, electronic suspension and cruise control. 3 variants of the R 1300 GS have been listed on the Indian website – GS Trophy, Triple Black and the top-spec Option 719 Tramuntana. The first two have alloy wheels while only the Tramuntana sports tubeless spoked rims. Tyre sizes are also common across the 3 variants at 120/70-R19 at the front and 170/60-R17 at the rear. ![]() Currently, the outgoing BMW R 1250 GS is only sold in a single ‘Pro’ variant with a price tag of Rs 20.55 Lakh (ex-showroom, India). Although competitive pricing is expected, BMW will likely price the 1300 GS higher than the outgoing 1250 GS. This bike is larger than the TRK 502X which is currently on sale in India and is also expected to come to our market very soon. ![]() Benelli TRK 552X Revealed – HighlightsDesign-wise, the TRK 552X carries forward the TRK styling and features full-LED lighting, a new 5-inch TFT fully digital instrument cluster and backlit switchgear. The bike also gets some electronic rider aids in the form of dual-channel ABS. Interestingly, Benelli has replaced the axial Brembo calipers on the 502X with radially mounted J.Juan calipers on the 552X. ![]() In terms of powertrain, the TRK 552X is powered by a 550 cc, liquid-cooled, parallel-twin engine that generates 61 hp and 55 Nm of Torque. The motor has a 50 cc bump compared to the TRK 502X and this larger engine is housed inside a steel tube frame, suspended by a USD fork and monoshock. The Benelli TRK 552X will first go on sale in its home country China followed by other markets. When launched in India, it will be priced higher than the TRK 502X, which currently carries a price tag of Rs 6.50 Lakh (Ex-showroom, India). This is a sportier version of the brand’s premium hatchback and will sport unique exterior styling, more features and most importantly, a more powerful engine than the standard Altroz. ![]() Tata Altroz Racer Teased – HighlightsThe teaser confirms the new and unique orange & black dual-tone exterior finish of the Altroz Racer. The black won’t just be in the roof, window line and wing mirrors, but will also cover the pillars. However, the 16-inch alloys remain the same as the standard Altroz. Spy shots earlier also revealed that the Altroz Racer will get white racing stripes on the bonnet just like it was showcased at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2024. The model will also likely get “Racer” badges and a refreshed grille. Inside, the Altroz Racer is expected to get some cosmetic changes that complement its sporty exterior such as the new upholstery and new highlights on the dashboard. Tata is also expected to pack the Racer with extra features over the standard Altroz like the new 10.25-inch touchscreen, segment-first ventilated front seats, a heads-up display, a 360-degree camera and a voice-assisted sunroof. Powering the Altroz Racer will be the Nexon’s 120 hp, 1.2-litre unit paired with a 6-speed transmission which puts it above the Altroz Iturbo which is powered by a 110hp, 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine. With a more powerful engine, this sporty Altroz will directly compete with the Hyundai i20 N Line which features a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine that generates 120 hp/ 172 Nm. Expect the Tata Altroz Racer to be priced higher than the iTurbo and directly compete with the i20 N Line which currently costs Rs 10 Lakh to Rs 12.52 Lakh. Other competitors at this price point also include Maruti Fronx and its badge-engineered sibling Toyota Taisor with their 100 hp, 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engines. The patent image shows a rectangular box with a grab handle at the top which looks a little different from the swappable battery packs of the other electric 2-wheeler manufacturers. The patented image strongly indicates OLA’s potential entry towards the swappable battery segment. ![]() OLA Electric Patents Swappable Battery PacksAt the same time, the removable battery pack suggests OLA Electric’s venture into the shared mobility space. The Swapple battery packs offer benefits like reduced downtime with the vehicle does not needing to remain stationary for more than a few minutes to swap out the used battery with a charged one. Considering OLA working on its new electric 3-wheeler lineup, the swappable batteries make complete sense and would be very different to the brand’s electric scooter range which uses a fixed battery system. Currently, Honda is already using removable batteries in the electric 3-wheelers in a few markets. Yuma Energy is also another brand which is running swappable batteries on its EVs as part of the last-mile mobility option. Apart from these, Hero Motocorp’s Vida is the only mainstream EV brand for now to use this tech but instead of being swapped immediately for new fully-charged units, its batteries can be taken home for charging. Via https://motomotar.com/bike-news/ola-electric-removable-battery-patented-in-india/ The premium 125cc commuter segment is growing at a rapid pace with famous entries like the TVS Raider 125 and the recently launched Hero Xtreme 125R. Now it seems Bajaj will be joining the wave with its own 125cc bike soon. ![]() The bike in question is the camouflaged test mule in the pictures which is surely a Bajaj Product since the brand has been using similar registration numbers to previous Bajaj test mules and it’s the same case with the Bajaj-made KTMs and Triumphs. And the bike being a 125cc commuter is kind of a given, I mean look at those skinny tyres and the rear drum brake which are obvious indicators that the bike is smaller than a 150cc bike. The wheels appear similar to the Bajaj Pulsar N150, so there’s a chance that this bike could use similar tyre sizes. Talking about the design, this Bajaj bike seems to sport an all-new design, which can be seen with the new LED headlight shape and aggressive tank extensions. So, expect front heaviness from the bike similar to what Hero did with the Xtreme 125R. Even the mirrors appear new and the rear section seems unswept with a split seat setup, but it isn’t too aggressive and is very much like the Raider. All the sharp design elements clearly indicate that this might be Bajaj’s answer to the Raider and Xtreme 125R, however only time will tell. Via https://motomotar.com/bike-news/bajaj-new-125cc-bike-incoming-raider-xtreme-rival/ BYD India recently announced that the Seal electric sedan which was launched on March 5 has crossed over 1,000 bookings in just two-and-a-half months. BYD stated that it had earlier received 200 bookings for the Seal within the 1st week of the commencement of bookings on Feb 28 and 1st 500 within 15 days of the launch. ![]() BYD Seal Crosses 1000 Bookings Mark – Surpasses Hyundai Ioniq 5!This 1,000 bookings milestone is rather an important achievement for BYD considering the company has a small footprint in the Indian market combined with the fact the Seal EV is a CBU. The prices of the sedan start at Rs 41 Lakh for the base Dynamic variant and go up to Rs 53 Lakh for the top-spec Performance AWD variant. In fact, despite having a smaller market share here compared to more famous brands like Hyundai, the Seal EV managed to surpass the number of bookings of the Ioniq 5, which secured 650 orders in two-and-a-half months, so there’s another importance of this milestone. ![]() The Sedan is available with two battery options – 61.44 kWh and 82.56 kWh with BYD’s patented blade technology. While the Dynamic variant gets the smaller battery pack that powers a single 204hp/310 Nm motor on the rear axle and provides a claimed range of 510 km, the Premium and Performance variants get the larger battery. But while the former gets a 312hp/360Nm motor mounted at the rear axle, the performance gets a 530hp/670Nm dual-motor AWD setup which can run 0-100 kph in just 3.8 seconds. When it comes to charging, the Seal is capable of charging at speeds of up to 150 kW with 10-80% taking 37 minutes and an 11 kW AC charger taking 8.6 hours to charge 0-100%. Furthermore, the Seal is also capable of Vehicle to Load charging, which the company states to be helpful during camping and outdoor activities. ![]() BYD currently has 24 showrooms across 21 cities, and the dealers say that regardless of the variant and battery option, buyers who book their Seal will get it within 2 months’ time. The S 1000 XR also gets some extra equipment depending on the chosen package – Touring, Dynamics and M, out of which the Touring and Dynamics are standard with the former including a luggage carrier, hand protection, a centre stand, a slot for a navigation device, a tyre-pressure monitoring system and heated grips. Meanwhile, the Dynamics package offers dynamic ESA pro, cruise control and assistant pro. ![]() Lastly, the M package offers an M Sport seat, M endurance chain, M GOS-Laptrigger, tinted windscreen, sports silenser, M lightweight battery, a black filler cap, M forged wheels or M carbon wheels (optional).
