Tata Motors has recently launched the much-awaited Altroz Racer which is priced from Rs 9.49 Lakh, going all the way up to Rs 10.99 Lakh, ex-showroom, India. This is the sportiest version of the hatchback till now and will directly compete with the Hyundai i20 N Line. Tata Altroz Racer Launched in India – HighlightsThe main highlight of the Altroz Racer is the engine which is the same 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder turbo-petrol engine that powers the iTurbo although this unit generates 120 hp and 170 Nm, meaning it’s tuned to produce 10 hp and 30 Nm more. Instead, this motor is in the same state of tune as the Nexon SUV. The Altroz Racer sports a 6-speed manual transmission, instead of the 5-speed unit that is offered with the iTurbo. However, there’s no Auto gearbox option, but it does get a sportier-sounding exhaust system. The Altroz Racer also does not feature any suspension or steering updates, unlike the i20 N Line. With the arrival of the Altroz Racer, Tata has discontinued the iTurbo variant of the hatchback. The iTurbo was powered by a detuned version of the 1.2-litre turbo-petrol unit and came with a pretty standard 5-speed manual gearbox. The Altroz Racer also gets a few exterior updates, the most noticeable being the new colour schemes – Atomic Orange, Avenue White and Pure Grey. All 3 come with a contrasting black finish with white racing stripes for the roof and bonnet along with a fully blacked-out top, giving the car a very sporty look. It also features “Racer” badging on the front fenders and a slightly revised grilled but the 16-inch alloys remain unchanged. The equipment updates are also no less either. The Racer gets a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen from the newer Tata SUVs as well as a new 7.0-inch digital driver’s display. The car also features segment-first ventilated front seats, a 360-degree camera and a voice-assisted sunroof to name a few. When it comes to safety, the Racer sports 6 airbags and ESC as standard. The cabin furthermore gets a makeover with new leatherette upholstery with contrast stitching. With a price range of Rs 9.49 Lakh – Rs 10.99 Lakh, the Altroz Racer rivals the i20 N line and also the Maruti Fronx. Force Motors is all set up to launch a Gurkha Rear-Wheel-Drive variant soon, to lock heads with the RWD variant of Mahindra Thar. The RWD Gurkha will likely go live by the carmaker in the coming months. Force Gurkha RWD Coming Soon – What to Expect?Currently, the Force Gurkha comes in 3-door and 5-door variants with an AWD drivetrain as standard. In this config, the rugged SUV is a direct competitor of the Mahindra Thar 3-door. However, That is also being sold in both RWD petrol and diesel variants at a lower starting price of Rs 11.35 Lakh (ex-showroom). Design-wise, the RWD variant of the Gurkha will remain the same in the 3-door option. Currently, the Force Gurkha comes with a price tag of Rs 16.75 Lakh and Rs 18 Lakh for the 3-door and 5-door versions respectively (all prices, ex-showroom). This new RWD variant will help make the Gurkha more accessible and possibly take away some sales from the RWD Mahindra Thar lifestyle SUV, which for now also has a long waiting period. The Gurkha boasts features such as a 9.0-inch infotainment screen, a new digital driver’s display, powered ORVMs, a rear camera, tilt and telescopic steering adjust, a tyre pressure monitoring system and more. As for the powertrain, the Gurkha gets the 2.6-litre Meredes-sourced diesel engine that has been tuned to generate 140 hp and 320 Nm, making it a powerful and rugged workhorse in rough terrains. This bike introduces a lot of changes from its predecessor in terms of design, engine and specs. BMW R 1300 GS India Launch SoonThe R 1300 GS makes a shift when it comes to the design of the BMW’s flagship adventure tourer. While the older models used to sport an asymmetrical twin-pod headlamp, the R 1300 GS comes with an LED single-pod headlight with 4 DRLs. Next up, the R 1300 GS also sports a new liquid-cooled engine that generates 145 hp at 7,750 RPM and 149 Nm of Torque at 6,500 RPM. This is quite a substantial increase from the older 1250 GS’ 134 hp and 143 Nm output. Despite being more powerful, the 1300 GS is rather lighter by 12 kilos than the outgoing 1250, but with a longer wheelbase. The weight-saving is courtesy of the new sheet metal frame and the new 1300 cc engine, which now carries a litre less fuel than the 1250 GS. It’s a pretty good tradeoff considering we get a more powerful engine and a lighter bike along with some new features such as a radar-assisted riding aid in addition to the list of riding modes, traction control, electronic suspension and cruise control. For now, 3 variants of the BMW 1300 GS have been listed on the Indian website – GS Trophy, Triple Black and the top-spec 719 Tramuntana. While the first two have alloys, the Tramuntana is the only variant that runs on tubeless cross-spoked rims. Tyre sizes are common across the lineup at 120/70-R19 (Front) and 170/60-R17 (Rear). The BMW R 1250 GS is only sold in a sole ‘Pro’ guide with a price tag of Rs 20.55 Lakh (ex-showroom, India). Expect BMW to continue with competitive pricing compared to its competitors, although the 1300 GS will most likely carry a premium than its predecessor. Via https://motomotar.com/bike-news/bmw-r-1300-gs-to-launch-in-india-on-june-13/ Jeep has recently launched the special edition Meridian X from Rs 34.27 Lakh (ex-showroom). It has got some cosmetic changes along with the addition of new features. At the price of Rs 34.27 Lakh, the Meridian X is a Rs 50,000 premium over the entry-level Limited (O) variant. Jeep Meridian X – HighlightsThe Meridia X sports a grey roof and alloy wheels with grey accents. Unlike the regular Meridian, it gets some additional equipment such as puddle lamps, side moulding, sunshades, programmable ambient lighting, premium carpet mats, an air purifier and an optional rear-seat entertainment package & a dashcam. Powering the Meridian X is a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder diesel engine that generates 170 hp and 350 Nm of Peak Torque. The engine is paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 9-speed torque converter automatic (optional). However, whether the Meridian X will be available with both gearboxes or with front-wheel-drive / all-wheel-drive remains unknown. The Jeep Meridian is already due to receive a mid-life update later this year. The updated SUV was spied on during its test runs recently, confirming subtle styling changes. Design changes will likely include a revised grille and new bumpers, while the ADAS suite will be the biggest addition. Upon its arrival, the car will continue to lock horns with MG Gloster, Toyota Fortuner and Skoda Kodiaq. Launched originally at Rs 1.89 Lakh, the brand has now hiked the price of the 450 Apex to Rs 1.95 Lakh. This makes the Apex the most expensive product Ather sells and sits at the top of its 450 lineup. Ather 450 Apex Priced Hiked – detailsAther previously launched the 450 Apex in January as a limited-edition model. Showcased as Ather’s most performance-centric model, the 450 Apex shares its battery and base with the 450X. The electric scooter gets a 3.7 kWh battery and is powered by a 7 kW electric motor. This helps the 450 Apex go from 0 to 100 kph in just 2.9 seconds and has a top speed of 100 kph. Ather has further equipped a 7-inch touchscreen that also supports Bluetooth and Navigation connectivity. The touchscreen further allows users to select between 6 riding modes including a mode exclusive to the 450 Apex called Warp Plus. Design-wise, the 450 Apex is similar to the rest of the 450 family, however, the brand has given the 450 Apex a cool & unique blue and orange colour combo, along with translucent panels that show off its trellis subframe. In order to increase its footprint, Ather has opened 2 new experience centres in Mumbai, located in Panvel and Thane, respectively. At a price of Rs 1.95 lakh (ex-showroom, Bangalore), the 450 Apex is the second most costliest electric scooter in India, the first being the TVS X. Via https://motomotar.com/bike-news/ather-450-apex-price-hiked-by-rs-6000/ Volkswagen Virtus sedan and Taigun SUV have been updated to sport 6 airbags as standard across the range. Interestingly, this update didn’t come with a price hike which usually is the case. This update closely follows the Skoda also equipping its Kushaq and Slavia with 6 airbags as standard. Volkswagen Virtus and Taigun Updated – Safety Enhanced at 0 CostPrior to the update, both the Virtus and Taigun used to get 6 airbags on the top-spec Topline trims and their respective GT variants. With this update, it will also be available in the Comfortline and Highline trims along with special edition models like the GT Edge, Sport and Sound edition. What’s interesting is that while Skoda slightly increased the pricing of both models with the update, its sibling VW has kept the prices as it is. In fact, the entry-level Comfortline Taigun is priced at a special offer of Rs 10.99 Lakh, which is Rs 70,000 lower than the normal, although this offer is for a limited time only. Both the Taigun and Slavia are 5-star rated by the Global NCAP, which they just achieved with their dual airbag-spec, so the addition of the 6 airbags further enhances the safety. Other safety features include a multi-collision braking system, ESC as standard, a tyre pressure monitoring system, brake assist and traction control. The Taigun rivals like the Creta, Seltos, Elevate and Kushaq, all of which have 6 airbags as standard while the Virtus faces competition with the likes of the Verna and City. The bike was also spotted last month, which we reported on. Bajaj Pulsar N125 Test Mule SpiedWhile the bike is under wraps, the body panels are big and sharp enough to be noticeable from the outside. The fuel tank is shaped aggressively with its pointy extensions and large side panels that integrate smoothly with the upswept tail section. The headlamp appears to have a sharp profile with a small windscreen. However, the test mule has a halogen headlight instead of an LED unit which is a norm with other new launches nowadays. This headlight seems to be a dummy unit while Bajaj goes ahead with a headlight design for production. Apart from the styling, the Pulsar N125 will likely borrow its frame from the Pulsar N150. The test mule appears to sport the same 17-inch alloys as seen on the N150. Other visible specs include a telescopic fork, a monoshock and a simple box section swingarm. Braking is handled by a disc brake at the front and a drum unit at the rear. The console also appears to be an LCD and should feature Bluetooth connectivity and navigation. It’s still unclear whether Bajaj has developed a new air-cooled unit or has derived the single-cylinder engine from an existing Pulsar. This upcoming N125 will possibly go live in 6 to 8 months and will be against other high sellers in the segment like the Hero Xtreme 125R and TVS Raider. Via https://motomotar.com/bike-news/new-bajaj-pulsar-n125-test-mule-spied-again/ Kawasaki has recently teased the Ninja ZX-4RR and the brand has now listed the higher-spec variant on its Indian website at a hefty Rs 9.10 Lakh (ex-showroom, India). Kawasaki Ninja ZX-4RR Launched – HighlightsThe bike is powered by a 399 cc, liquid-cooled, inline-four engine generating 77 hp at 14,500 RPM and 39 Nm of Torque at 13,000 RPM, making it an ideal machine to rev around streets on weekends. With RAM air, the peak power increases to 80 hp. The frame used on the Ninja ZX-4RR is the same as the standard 4R, although the suspension is very much different. The fork supports preload adjustability and the monoshock is fully adjustable. The 4RR also gets the bidirectional quickshifter, which is optional on the ZX-4R. Also, design-wise the ZX-4RR’s design and styling is similar to the 4R, it comes wrapped in the iconic Kawasaki Racing Green colour scheme. The features are shared between both the small-capacity ZX models and include 4 riding modes – Sport, Road, Rain and Rider. Each of these power modes adjusts settings like the traction control and ABS intervention accordingly. At Rs 9.10 Lakh, the Kawasaki ZX-4RR is priced at Rs 61,000 which is already pricier than the ZX-4R. Both bikes come to India as CBUs, hence the high price. In fact, the ZX-4RR costs only Rs 28,000 less than the much larger Z900. There are no direct rivals to the ZX-4RR as of now with the closest one being the Triumph Daytona 660, which has been listed on Triumph’s Indian website, but hasn’t gone live yet. Via https://motomotar.com/bike-news/kawasaki-ninja-zx-4rr-launched-at-rs-9-10-lakh/ Audi has recently revealed a new variant for the upcoming Q6 e-tron prior to its official launch later this year. The new Audi Q6 e-tron Performance is the entry-level variant in the Q6 e-tron line-up which is mainly focused on efficiency and a higher driving range. Audi Q6 e-tron Performance RevealedThe Performance variant gets the same 100 kWh battery pack as the other two variants. Despite being the entry-level variant in the lineup, it boasts the highest range among its siblings of up to 641 km (WLTP) – 16 km higher than the standard Q6 e-tron and 43 km higher than the SQ6 e-tron. Furthermore, the new variant is the only one with a rear-wheel drive setup. The Q6 e-tron Performance churns out 326 hp, which is lower than the Q6 e-tron Quattro’s 387 hp and SQ6’s 517 hp. Despite that, it’s still capable of going 0 to 100 kph in 6.6 seconds. Audi states that the new variant can offer up to 260 km range by charging for just 10 minutes, considering a fast charger is used. The Q6 e-tron is set to go live in Europe in August, followed by China. The India launch is expected to take place either by the end of this yer or early next year. The price will likely be around the Rs 70-80 Lakh range and the car will sit between the Volvo XC40 recharge, BMW iX3 and larger SUVs like the Q8 e-tron, BMW iX and Mercedes EQE SUV. Via https://motomotar.com/car-news/2wd-audi-q6-e-tron-performance-unveiled/ The much-awaited BMW R 1300 GS has recently been listed on BMW’s Indian website ahead of its launch, confirming its entry into our market. Revealed last year, this range-topping ADV debuted an all-new engine, frame and design for the flagship BMW GS model. BMW R 1300 GS Confirmed for India – HighlightsFirstly, the ADV features a horizontally-placed 1,300 cc, twin-cylinder engine with a higher combustion ratio than the ongoing 1,254 cc unit. Along with the displacement bump, the output has also increased to 145 hp at 7,750 RPM & 149 Nm of Torque at 6,500 RPM. BMW states that despite the bump up in displacement, the engine is more compact than before, all thanks to the gearbox now placed under the engine. Coming to the frame, the bike uses an all-new sheet metal mainframe that is fitted to a die-cast aluminium subframe. The engine is a load-bearing member and is suspended through a telelever front and paralever rear, typical of a BMW. The R 1300 GS weighs 237 kg, which is 12 kg lighter than the 1250, although the former holds a litre less fuel in the 19-litre fuel tank. This is also the first time BMW has added radar-assisted riding aids on a GS model apart from the usual riding modes, traction control, electronic suspension and cruise control. 3 variants of the R 1300 GS have been listed on the Indian website – GS Trophy, Triple Black and the top-spec Option 719 Tramuntana. The first two have alloy wheels while only the Tramuntana sports tubeless spoked rims. Tyre sizes are also common across the 3 variants at 120/70-R19 at the front and 170/60-R17 at the rear. Currently, the outgoing BMW R 1250 GS is only sold in a single ‘Pro’ variant with a price tag of Rs 20.55 Lakh (ex-showroom, India). Although competitive pricing is expected, BMW will likely price the 1300 GS higher than the outgoing 1250 GS. Via https://motomotar.com/bike-news/bmw-r-1300-gs-india-launch-confirmed/ |
